Manchester United recently secured the signing of Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

After spending the first half of the season on loan at Besiktas, this deal was terminated in able for him to join the Red Devils on another loan.

While the Dutchman will be at Old Trafford on a short-term basis, if Erik ten Hag were to think about potential strikers that the club could look to sign as a long-term option, one figure the Manchester club have been linked with previously that we feel would be a dream signing for them is Victor Osimhen.

Having been linked with the Napoli star during the previous summer transfer window, this shows how long the club have had the striker on their radar and how much they admire him.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

During his time with the Italian club, the 24-year-old has scored 41 goals and delivered 13 assists in 80 appearances across all competitions.

This season has seen the Nigerian show how much of a deadly attacking figure he is in Serie A. For example, in addition to scoring 12 goals and delivering three assists in 14 league appearances, Osimhen has also had more shots at goal (60) and shots on target (22) than any other player in the division, unsurprisingly leaving him with the highest rate of expected goals in Italy (8.5).

Hailed as a “phenomenal” player by Walter Mazzarri, it’s easy to see why United have had their eyes on the centre-forward for some time and why he’d be a dream long-term signing for Ten Hag and the club.

Whilst currently in the midst of a storming season with Napoli as they now find themselves nine points clear at the top of the table with 18 games played, it seems unlikely that a January move for Osimhen would be on the cards for United, especially with the recent arrival of Weghorst.

However, once the summer transfer window opens for business, we feel that securing a deal for the Napoli star should be one of United’s top priorities.
