Tottenham Hotspur right wing-back Emerson Royal was left furious in training during the week after his side lost in a game at Hotspur Way.

This has been suggested by Alasdair Gold who has been speaking about all things Spurs on his YouTube channel ahead of the Premier League restart.

Emerson has made a prominent start to the 2022/23 campaign under Antonio Conte having already made 18 appearances across all competitions.

However, there is some frustration among the fans surrounding the 23-year-old’s lack of production from the right wing-back spot as he is yet to provide a goal and has just one assist which came in the opening game of the season (via Transfermarkt).

And amid some speculation over his future, Gold picked up on the Brazilian’s anger after footage emerged from a recent training session at Hotspur Way:

(9:30) “It was bibs against non-bibs and it was a non-bibs who won. They had Kulusevski, Lenglet and Doherty. Yeah, it was quite a contentious decision. You could see the coaches decided to who’s won.

“Emerson was very, very upset. Told the coaches, one of the coaches that the other team didn’t complete their final pass so the shouldn’t have won.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Emerson’s spot in the side will be something we will be keeping an eye out for when the Premier League restarts on Boxing Day as Spurs travel to Brentford.

Matt Doherty has enjoyed a productive break under Conte which has seen the Irishman score three goals in his two behind-scenes appearances at Hotspur Way.

And Djed Spence has also shown the Italian manager signs of what he could bring to his starting XI having impressed during the game against Motherwell in north London.

With this in mind, it will be interesting to see whether Emerson continues to be awarded minutes with his two rivals for the starting spot impressing of late.
