Daizen Maeda has revealed on Instagram that he’s on his way back to Celtic after the World Cup, in what will be a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou.

Maeda was one of four Celtic players to play in Qatar alongside Aaron Mooy, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josip Juranovic, with the latter the only one still in the competition.

The Japanese striker started three of the four games for his country and managed to score one goal, but most importantly for Celtic, he came through unscathed and looks set to be linking up with his club teammates very shortly.

He has recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram accompanied by a Japanese and Scottish flag, showing he’s finally on his way back to Glasgow.

Should Maeda start on Saturday?

TIF Thoughts on Maeda’s imminent return…

Maeda has become an instant hit at Celtic since joining last January, having featured in 44 games across all competitions, including several Champions League matches, so having him back as soon as possible will be a major boost.

This English Premier League winner almost moved to Celtic.

Postecoglou will be hoping that Maeda can return without much jetlag or problems, which would then allow him to potentially be involved – even if only from the bench – for their first league game back on Saturday away to Aberdeen.

While Celtic do indeed have a healthy lead at the top of the SPFL table, Postecoglou won’t be resting on his laurels and will want to ensure that lead only increases, and to do that, he’ll need all of his top players back and raring to go.
