Celtic may now feel hard done by once again after footage was shared of another VAR decision that went against them on Wednesday night during their league victory at Parkhead.

Ange Postecoglou’s side made it two wins from their two league games since the return from the World Cup break, but the victory on Wednesday did not come without controversy.

The Bhoys claimed the points with a 2-1 win over Livingston thanks to an own goal and one from Kyogo Furuhashi, but they were denied a third after VAR intervened in the second half.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Liel Abada netted what would’ve been the third Celtic goal of the evening, however, it was deemed that the Israeli winger was offside in the build-up to the goal.

With Abada in an offside position, VAR seemingly believed his positioning forced the Livingston defender into a mistake as his attempted clearance went wrong and allowed Abada to run through on goal.

TIF Thoughts on the VAR decision…

This will definitely be a difficult decision for the Celtic fans to accept having seen the Livingston defender clearly get a significant touch on the ball before it fell at the feet of Abada.

And it is not the first time this season the Bhoys have been left feeling hard done by after a VAR decision went against them.

In their final home game before the break, Ross County were awarded a penalty after Matt O’Riley was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own box.

Pundit Tom Boyd agrees, saying: “It’s not the first time referees and VAR don’t look favourably on Celtic when trying to get the right decision.”

Postecoglou will be delighted his side were able to walk away with all three points, but some of the decisions being made by VAR will almost certainly be frustrating the Australian.
