Journalist Liam Keen has said that although Wolves are looking to bring in both Matheus Cunha and Felipe, talks are still at an early stage.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano via Steve Madeley this week, the Old Gold are interested in acquiring the duo who are clubmates at Atletico Madrid.

It appears that new manager Julen Lopetegui is looking at La Liga in his home country to improve his side with the Molineux club sitting rock bottom after 15 games.

The Midlanders are the lowest-scoring team in the division with eight goals while only seven teams have conceded more times.

They have seemingly identified their targets to improve at each end of the pitch and speaking on the Express and Star podcast Kean has said: (40:11)” Wolves are interested in both of them. So they’re looking at striking a deal for the pair, whether that comes as a package deal or two individual transfers, but they’re looking at bringing them both in if they can.

“Fees is a little bit up in the air at the moment, because I actually was told today that they’ve not agreed anything on numbers as of yet. So it’s difficult to say until we can hear more really, but as far as I understand that they are looking at permanent deals for both of them if they can.”

TIF Thoughts on Kean’s comments…

Do you think Wolves will sign both players?

Cunha and Felipe have been among Atleti’s least-used players this season with the former accounting for 510 of their 780 total minutes spent on the field.

You would think that the Spanish club would be willing to come to an agreement and considering Felipe is 33 and out of contract in the summer he is likely to come cheap.

The centre-back would bring vast experience to what has been a problematic backline while Cunha, ten years his junior, could offer an attacking threat.

The Brazilian’s former manager at Hertha Berlin Bruno Labbadia previously said that he had ‘something special and having been involved in 15 goals in 1,758 minutes for his current employers he could be another worthwhile addition.
