Presenter Dave Azzopardi has praised Wolves for acting early in the January transfer market as they close in on deals for Felipe and Matheus Cunha.

As per the reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club look intent on landing the Atletico Madrid duo this winter and are in a strong position to do so even though the window is yet to open.

The pair would, of course, be the first two signings of the Julen Lopetegui era and could be a real sign of intent from Wolves under their new Spanish manager.

That is the view of Azzopardi, who made his point on the Talking Wolves podcast, saying: “Lopetegui’s first two signings could be from Atletico Madrid, and for me, it’s a good sign that we are getting the wheels in motion now.

“If we can get a couple of players announced on the first, second or third of January rather than waiting till the end of the month, that would be a really decent signal of intent by Wolves.”

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

TIF Thoughts on Felipe, Matheus Cunha and Wolves…

At 33 years of age, Felipe would certainly arrive with plenty of top-level experience having won the league with Atletico back in 2020/21. Although, he has fallen out of favour this term, playing just twice in La Liga.

Cunha has been more involved of late, featuring in 17 games across all competitions, but with just two starts in the league, it’s clear that he isn’t viewed as the most important player right now.

With that in mind, it wouldn’t be a shock if they were both up for sale, and if Wolves can get in early to sign the pair, it certainly would be an exciting start to the winter window.
