Wolves full-back Jonny Castro Otto’s form is a real concern for the club.

That is the opinion of podcaster Matt Cooper, who was speaking on the latest instalment of the Talking Wolves podcast regarding the recent performances of the 28-year-old.

Jonny has come in for some criticism over the course of this season, with the Express & Star’s Liam Keen describing his performance in Wolves’ 4-0 home defeat to Leicester City as “unforgivable”.

The Spaniard, who joined in January 2019 for £15m after initially signing on loan in the previous summer, has been unfortunate with injury problems during his time at Molineux, suffering anterior cruciate ligament injuries in August 2020 and April 2021.

And Cooper is unconvinced by the form of both Jonny and Nelson Semedo, with the pair seemingly struggling on the right-hand side this season.

He said: “It’s that right-hand side again, isn’t it?

“Jonny went off injured, looked like he was running in concrete again. It’s a real concern.

“I even said the same to AFTV when we spoke last week, I said that right-hand side for us – it doesn’t matter who seems to play there – it’s just problem after problem.”

TIF Thoughts on Cooper’s comments…

We can see why Cooper is incredibly concerned about the performances of Jonny this term, with the full-back appearing to have suffered a drop-off in form since the beginning of the campaign, with the former Celta Vigo man ranking as the 11th-best performing player at Molineux according to SofaScore for this Premier League campaign so far, suggesting that he could be targeted as a weak link in the side.

Therefore, we can understand why Cooper would be concerned by the Spaniard’s displays, with Wolves fans hoping that the World Cup break can cause a turnaround in fortunes for the player and the club as the side look to move off the bottom of the Premier League table in the new year.
