Journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed Tottenham Hotspur could consider signing ‘talented’ defender Pedro Porro in the January transfer market.
With the World Cup now reaching its latter stages, Premier League football will return in just a matter of weeks. Shortly after it does, the winter window will also open and clubs will be able to sign new players.
One man who could be on his way to north London is Sporting wing-back Porro. Indeed, the Spaniard has played against Spurs twice in the Champions League this season and Gold has claimed Tottenham will be well aware of his talents.
While speaking about the player on his YouTube channel, Gold mooted a possible move, saying: “I’m intrigued to see what happens in the transfer window as well.
“A lot of talk about even the wing-back position – Pedro Porro, of course, Sporting. A talented player as well. Could he be someone that they look at?
“He’ll be someone they’ll be more than aware of and obviously, having come up against him twice and he’s played well, do they look to move there?”

Interestingly enough, according to a report in the Portuguese media (via Sport Witness), Fabio Paratici is now ‘preparing to formalise’ an offer for the 23-year-old – who currently has a minimum fee release clause of €45m (£38.7m).
Playing on the right flank, Porro certainly knows how to attack, having picked up eight assists for his club this season in 18 matches across all competitions. With that in mind, Conte could want him to come in as a wing-back for Spurs.
However, seeing as Tottenham already have Djed Spence, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty who can play that role, it remains to be seen if they will look to go out and spend money on such a transfer this winter.
