Alasdair Gold revealed that Ben Davies is a doubt for Tottenham Hotspur’s return game against Brentford with injury.

Gold revealed that Davies is a major doubt ahead of the first Premier League game back after the World Cup break due to an oblique injury, he picked up against England in the World Cup.

The 29-year-old played all three of Wales’ group games in Qatar but failed to see out the 90 minutes against England as he was forced off with the injury.

Gold said on his YouTube channel that the Welshman is a doubt whilst Rodrigo Bentancur will play no place due to suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Leeds United.

(23:10) “Ben Davies is out with an injury, he’s got I understand a very painful to his oblique muscle.”

“He picked that up in the World Cup defeat to England, the recovery period for that kind of injury is supposed to be three to four weeks, so it’s gonna be a little bit tight for Brentford. We’ll see how he’s going. Might be ok, might be ok.

“Rodrigo Bentancur also out with his injury, he’s obviously suspended for the Brentford match so he’ll be hoping to try and be back for the (Aston) Villa game,” Gold said.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

In what will already be a quick turnover for some of the Spurs stars following the World Cup, Antonio Conte will potentially be forced to be without at least two of his players that went to Qatar.

Although the Uruguayan’s unavailability was already known against Brentford, he may not make it back in time for the Villa clash, Conte will certainly miss his presence in the middle of the park as one of Spurs’ standout players with him missing only one league game this season due to injury.

Davies’ potential omission may leave the Italian manager with a headache with the 29-year-old his go-to player in the left centre-back spot which he has played 90 minutes in during six of the last seven league games.

The Welshman has become a regular since Conte’s arrival last year having already racked up 52 appearances under the Italian who clearly has a lot of faith in the 29-year-old.
