YouTuber Mark Goldbridge believes that the Glazers have buyers lined up for Manchester United amid rumours of a Saudi Arabian takeover.

This comes after financial expert Simon Chadwick spoke to The Athletic about the possibility of a Saudi investor coming in after the club was put up for sale by the Glazers.

And with Saudi owners already at Newcastle United – Chadwick mooted that they could ditch the Magpies to launch a bid for their previously preferred option of United now that the club are welcoming offers.

Chadwick claimed that the Toon takeover was an “opportunistic” purchase and the idea was sold to them by intermediaries rather than their own desire to attain the club as a result of there being no gap in the Premier League market for a club with the potential to mirror Manchester City’s rise.

With both United and Liverpool being put up for sale, the opportunity to acquire a club already at the forefront of world football is available, but Goldbridge has claimed on The United Stand that he believes the Glazers already have American buyers lined up.

He said: “What also could happen is, ‘private’ investment from Saudi Arabia could buy Manchester United and then in future years, Newcastle could be sold and private investors could sell it to Saudi Arabia.

“I still believe the Glazers have got buyers lined up, and it’s probably US investment.

“It just shows you the enormity of Manchester United and it just shows you the amount of interest there is in the club.”

TIF Thoughts on Goldbridge’s comments…

As Goldbridge alluded to, there are options that could see the Saudi state take control of the Red Devils and sell Newcastle, which could involve a private Saudi bid for the club before being sold to the public gulf state after any potential sale of the Toon was finalised.

As absurd as that may sound, Saudi Arabia’s sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal has already confirmed they would support a private sector bid for either of the north-west giants, which leaves the theory open to possibility.

However, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that any such deal affecting Newcastle in any way would happen, with the identities of United and Liverpool’s future potential owners still all speculation at this point.
