Journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that Dominik Livakovic will be leaving Dinamo Zagreb next month amid recent links to Leeds United.

It has been reported that Leeds have made contact over a move for the World Cup hero despite having Illan Melsier as their undisputed No 1 as of late, which may point towards where his own future lies.

Meslier has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and replacing his fellow countryman Hugo Lloris, so if Leeds could land Livakovic mid-season for a cut-price fee, it could offer them an easier route to replacing Meslier.

And Taylor has revealed on his YouTube channel that his sources have informed him Livakovic will be making a January transfer move.

He said: “Dominik Livakovic, the Croatian goalkeeper, is a player that I’ve been told will be leaving Dinamo Zagreb in January. The Croatian club are resigned to losing the goalkeeper of the tournament, really, in Qatar; he was absolutely phenomenal for Croatia, who reached the semi-finals.

Who would you rather have as Leeds' keeper?

“He saved three penalties in the shootout victory over Japan in the last 16, he also saved from Rodrygo in the quarter-final shootout victory over Brazil, and just generally, he’s very solid.

“I know David Ornstein reported that a number of Premier League clubs looked at him last summer when he was kind of an unknown entity, really, for the majority of football fans, who of course don’t tend to really keep tabs on Croatian football.”

TIF Thoughts on Livakovic’s future…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

It would be an interesting move from Leeds if they were to pursue Livakovic given they already have a great goalkeeper in Meslier, as after the Croatian impressed at the World Cup, he likely won’t wish to be stuck on a bench for the foreseeable future.

Therefore, signing Livakovic could well raise more questions than answers amongst Leeds fans as to whether Meslier will be sticking around at Elland Road for much longer, especially given the exit links this year.

Livakovic will likely have created a lot of interest across Europe for his services after starring at the World Cup and being a huge reason why Croatia went so deep into the tournament, so he won’t have to settle for the first club that throw themselves at him.
