Rangers may revisit a move for Belgian Nicolas Raskin when the window reopens this January.

That’s according to journalist Pete O’Rourke following reports linking the midfielder with a move to the Gers in the summer.

Details arose during the latest window from Raskin’s home country suggesting that the Glasgow giants were keen on signing the 21-year-old and that he was interested in a move out of Belgium.

According to Ibrox insider The 4th Official, the Bears were deterred by Standard Liege’s reported asking price of around €5.5m (£4.7m) despite the U21 international seeing his contract expire in the summer.

Speaking to This is Futbol, O’Rourke has said that the Light Blues could revise a deal for the midfield dynamo:

“Rangers have been keeping an eye on him for quite a while. They were interested in the summer so if there’s an option there to maybe try and sign him in January, I’m sure it’s something that they will definitely look at because they will be looking to add to that squad in January, whoever the manager is just to improve things after falling behind Celtic in the title race.”

TIF Thoughts on Raskin and Rangers…

Would you want Beale at Rangers?

Yes

Yes

No!

No!

Given that he will only have six months left on his deal Raskin will be able to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs which will be of huge benefit to Rangers who wouldn’t have to pay any transfer fee.

Labelled a ‘pitbull’ around the midfield third by journalist Bob Faesen, the youngster would bring energy and desire to the Rangers engine room that has been lacking this season.

With 97 appearances already at such a tender age, the £6.9k-per-week gem could help replace an ageing midfield at Ibrox and it will be interesting to see if they revisit a potential deal in the new year.
