Rangers have been tipped with potentially looking at bringing in Kevin Muscat as a potential replacement for the recently sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

And journalist Daniel Caw has claimed that would be a box office appointment by the Gers on the latest Record Rangers podcast as the managerial options were discussed.

Earlier this week, Rangers announced their decision to part ways with Van Bronckhorst following just 12 months at the helm at Ibrox.

How well do you remember where Rangers' signings came in from down the years? Take our quiz to find out! First up, Carlos Pena was the Gers' most expensive arrival during the summer of 2017, but where did he join from?

Muscat is currently plying his trade out in Japan with Yokohama where he is under contract until 2024 having only been appointed as the manager last year.

And this is clearly a potential appointment which has excited Caw as the journalist shared his thoughts on the ‘interesting’ links to the former Rangers Celtic:

(21:00) “Two of the names that have been mentioned heavily and it’s just purely social media. One, of course, is Steven Gerrard and the other is Kevin Muscat, who I think he was Ange Postecgolou’s assistant at Yokohama. I mean that would be a box office appointment. That would be very interesting.”

TIF Thoughts on Caw’s comments…

We have to agree with Caw on this with Muscat having strong links to the current Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, following their time together in Japan with Muscat acting as Postecoglou’s number two.

Would Muscat be a good appointment?

Yes

No

With this in mind, it would certainly create a blockbuster build-up to the next Old Firm game with the two Glasgow sides battling away for the Scottish crown.

Perhaps with Muscat knowing Postegolou so well, maybe the Gers view him as the perfect man to get the better of the Celtic boss in their bid to reclaim the title.
