Journalist Josh Bunting have raved about Celtic man Aaron Mooy on his Twitter account. He’s described the midfielder as ‘incredible’, for his display for Australia.

The 32-year-old starred for the Socceroos in their clash against Tunisia. Mooy has made 13 league appearances for Celtic, but he’s only been started by manager Ange Postecoglou, five times.

He arrived at Celtic Park last summer, this was after he left Shanghai Port earlier in the year.

Australia were able to pick up the 1-0 win against the African nation, thanks to a strike by Mitchell Duke in the first half. Mooy played very well in midfield, Sofascore gave him a 7.2 rating for his display. The midfielder made three tackles, two blocks and won four of his six ground duals.

Here’s what Bunting had to say on the Celtic man’s World Cup display:

“Aaron Mooy incredible has covered every blade of grass, immense shift from the midfielder. Passing has been slightly off but for work-rate he has been fantastic. 4/6 ground duels won he’s been so good at shifting the possession. Has recovered the ball 12 times and broke the lines.”

TIF’s view on Bunting’s comments…

We believe that Mooy has shown what he’s capable of in the clash with Tunisia, even at 32-years-old. Fans of English football will remember when the midfielder played for Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mooy’s best season in England was arguably with Huddersfield in the 2017/18 campaign. He netted four times and picked up three assists. Furthermore, he was combative in the midfield, making 2.8 tackles per game on average and got dribbled past less than once a game.

The Celtic man is experienced when it comes to playing for his nation. He’s netted seven goals and provided 14 assists.

Victory against Tunisia means the Socceroos are still in with a chance of qualification from the group stage. It makes their next game against Denmark a very significant one.

But one thing which is almost certain is that Potsecoglou will have surely been delighted with his fellow countryman and has certainly made a statement having started just five league games for the Bhoys.
