Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has said that Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign Ruslan Malinovskyi this January and that supporters should encourage a pursuit.
Tottenham brought in around £120m worth of talent in the summer, but further investment could be needed in the January transfer window.
Spurs have previously been linked with a move for Atalanta attacker Malinovskyi, and according to Calciomercato, they could revisit a deal this winter.
The 29-year-old is out of contract this summer and doubts surrounding his future have perhaps led to a drop-off in form this term.
Nonetheless, when speaking on the House of Champions podcast, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed that the forward-thinking midfielder is a player ‘appreciated’ at Hotspur Way.
Bridge feels that due to injuries to Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski already this season, Fabio Paratici may look to make this move happen when the market reopens.
He told GiveMeSport: “If Spurs did go for him in January for a bit of a cut-price fee, I don’t think Spurs fans should be too alarmed by his record this season. I think they should trust Paratici, and in particular, Antonio Conte.
“Also, there’s not much coming off the bench if Richarlison or Kulusevski get injured. They’ll probably need a couple more experienced bodies because they just looked a bit light when they picked up an injury.
“It wouldn’t surprise me and I know it’s a player they have talked about.”
TIF Thoughts on Malinovskyi and Spurs…
Would you take Ruslan Malinovskyi at Spurs?
Yes
No
The £15.5m-rated attacking midfielder has only weighed in with one goal and two assists in Serie A this season, but prior to this term he has proved a constant force in Bergamo.
Before this season, the 51-cap ace was involved in 44 goals in 100 league appearances for the club, and was lauded for having a ‘stunning left foot’ by journalist Josh Bunting as a result of his exploits.
Moreover, considering he ranks among the top 4% of his positional peers for progressive passes (5.65) and shots per 90 minutes (3.54) according to FBref, we think Malinovskyi could add another dimension to the Spurs attack and would be a low-risk signing considering the transfer fee likely to be required.
