Journalist Beren Cross has urged Jesse Marsch to start Wilfried Gnonto for Leeds United this weekend, with Jack Harrison potentially set to miss the game through injury.

This weekend, the Whites will look to continue their much-needed turnaround in league form, having won back-to-back games in the top flight over the past two weekends.

Leeds probably won’t have an easy game, though, as they face Tottenham Hotspur away from home, with Antonio Conte’s men currently occupying a spot in the top four.

With that in mind, Marsch must get his team selection just right, and Cross has claimed that Gnonto has done enough in recent weeks to earn himself a start.

Indeed, the journalist wrote on Twitter: “Impossible to ignore Gnonto after his last two league cameos. Harrison’s muscle strain makes it straightforward.”

In a further article for LeedsLive, Cross explains that it was a toss-up between Gnonto and Harrison, but the latter has ‘struggled to make an impact in recent matches’ and was already likely to be dropped before an injury doubt made it a ‘formality’.

His full starting team was: Illan Meslier; Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk; Tyler Adams, Marc Roca; Crysencio Summerville, Brenden Aaronson, Gnonto; and Rodrigo. It will certainly be interesting to see if that’s the team Marsch also feels is best.

If that was the team picked, it would mean only one player would change from the side that played and beat Bournemouth last weekend, with the aforementioned Gnonto coming in for Harrison.

To be fair to the Italian, he did pick up an assist in that win over the Cherries, and seeing as he is yet to start a Premier League game in his career, this could be the 18-year-old’s time to shine.
