TIF Thoughts on Zinchenko and Arsenal…
Is Oleksandr Zinchenko the best left-back at Arsenal?
Prior to Sunday’s mauling of Nottingham Forest, each of the Gunners’ three previous wins had come by a 1-0 scoreline.
They were beginning to show signs of a team that was fatigued after drawing with struggling Southampton and losing to PSV Eindhoven in Europe.
While Mikel Arteta’s side seemed to put those doubts to bed last weekend, they have nonetheless potentially been handed a major boost with Zinchenko’s recovery.
Dubbed a ‘very good asset’ by journalist Josh Bunting, the £32m summer arrival recorded an assist on debut against Crystal Palace, and albeit over a smaller sample size, is the club’s top-performing defender with a 6.94 average match rating according to WhoScored.
While the fixture with Zurich on Thursday night may come too soon, having Zinchenko available for the crunch match with Chelsea this Sunday would be a tremendous option for the Arsenal boss.
