Newcastle United are now looking to offer Bruno Guimaraes a new and improved contract to extend his stay on Tyneside.

This is according to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who has been speaking about the Brazilian’s future on his latest Here We Go podcast.

The 24-year-old has certainly hit the ground running at St. James’ Park since arriving in January having scored seven goals and providing two assists in his 25 appearances (via Trransfermarkt).

His impressive start to life in England has already caught the attention of some of Europe’s largest clubs with the likes of Real Madrid already believed to be interested.

But Romano believes Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth are intent on keeping Bruno on Tyneside with a new contract offer expected to be heading in the Brazilian’s direction:

(9:00) “Newcastle want Bruno to sign a new contract. So they will offer him a new deal improving the salary, of course. He signed in January but they want to protect Bruno to feel that Bruno is ready to stay at Newcastle for long term.

“Bruno is always speaking about Newcastle project in a positive way, so they want to offer him a new deal. Why? Because they also know that many top clubs are prepared to make proposals for Bruno in 2023. So keep an eye on Bruno Guimaraes.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We think it is absolutely essential that Newcastle are able to tie Bruno down to a new deal with the Brazilian having already shown what he is capable of in the early stages of his Toon career.

Do you expect Bruno to sign a new deal?

Yes

Yes

No

No

With the Saudi-based ownership now on Tyneside, promising investments on players like the Brazilian show the intent from the club and we do feel he could be a key figure in years to come having quickly adapted to the Premier League.

If Newcastle were unable to keep Bruno amid the believed Madrid interest, it would put major question marks on their project given the midfielder only signed a matter of months ago.
