Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is expected to be willing to put pen to paper on a new deal at St. James’ Park.

This is according to the transfer guru Graeme Bailey who has been discussing the Brazilian’s future on Tyneside during the latest Talking Transfers podcast.

Eddie Howe saw the 24-year-old added to his squad in January of this year, however, there have already been reports of potential interest coming from Real Madrid.

Amid the reports, it is believed the Toon are now intent on securing the Brazilian’s future on Tyneside with the offer of a new and improved contract.

And Bailey believes the midfielder is settled at St. James’ Park despite the suggestions of admiration from Madrid with a bumper deal expected to be put to the Toon’s maestro:

(30:00) “So yeah, it’s one where this will get done guys but I think it’s towards the end of the season. There’s no hurry, he’s happy. They’ll backdate it if need to but yeah, rather than leaving I think we will see Newcastle tie him down.

“And as I said this will be a big deal because this will show Newcastle really move into that next level.”

TIF Thoughts on Bailey’s comments…

This will be exactly what everyone at Newcastle will have been wanting to hear amid the reports of the interest coming from the La Liga giants.

Bruno has already established himself as one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League having made a stunning start to life in the English top flight despite arriving to the country less than a year ago.

In just 25 Premier League appearances, the Brazilian has been able to return 10 goal involvements two goals and two assists to his name already this season despite his injury issues (via Transfermarkt).

Although Bruno may be willing to sign a new deal, it will be interesting to see how his stance could potentially change in the future if the Toon’s upward spiral is to plateau somewhat.
