Presenter Conor McGilligan has claimed that Jesse Marsch will be sacked from his job at Leeds United before the World Cup and warned that things could soon turn ‘toxic.’

At this stage in the Premier League, the Whites sit 16th in the division but are only out of the relegation zone due to superior goal difference. The American has not seen his team win in their last seven matches, and pressure is beginning to build.

A turgid 2-0 away loss at Leicester City saw travelling supporters sing the name of former boss Marcelo Bielsa, while they also demanded to know why Marsch failed to join his players in applauding them at full-time (via The Yorkshire Post).

And while the club have said they will back their manager ahead of the upcoming game against Fulham, McGilligan has claimed that the writing is already on the wall.

Speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, he said: “He’s not coming back from this. He will be sacked at some point in the near future for me, before the World Cup.

“That’s what I think because this is a difficult one to get back from. When an away crowd turn on you like that – we spoke last night about it as well – when a crowd like that turns against you, it’s always on a teetering balance

“It’s like that now, it’s like that. And when we play Fulham at home, it’s going to be toxic if it goes wrong.”

TIF thoughts on Jesse Marsch and Leeds…

If Fulham beat Leeds this weekend at Elland Road, Marsch’s men would have nine points after 11 games and could well sink into the bottom three depending on how other results play out in the league.

Will Jesse Marsch still be at Leeds after the World Cup?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It would also mean the club would have stretched their winless streak to eight games, with a fourth consecutive defeat. With that in mind, the ground certainly could turn pretty toxic and it would be hard to see the American lasting much longer in the job.

As mentioned before, however, the board have at least backed him in the short term but considering the current state of things, it is hard to see Marsch turning it around.

Still, you never know in football, a couple of wins in a row would see the Whites shoot up the table and ease all that pressure on their boss. For now, though, it does seem as if he is very much on the precipice.
