Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is expected to hold talks during the World Cup break over a potential new deal with the Lilywhites.

This has been suggested by the reliable journalist David Ornstein who has been speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel to discuss the future of the Italian in north London.

The 53-year-old’s contract with Spurs is set to expire next summer having only signed an 18-month deal when he joined the club in November last year.

However, there is a belief that Spurs hold the option to extend his deal for what is expected to be another 12 months and it is a one-way clause which is held by the club.

With this in mind, Ornstein does believe talks will take place during the upcoming break over a potential new deal which could extend his future in N17 for the foreseeable future:

“Antonio Conte is out of contract at Tottenham in 2023. But they do have an option to extend him by a year. So I think there’ll be fairly relaxed in that sense.

“You’ll have seen reports recently that they are looking to open contract talks with him next month. So ideally, you’d say during the World Cup, I’m sure there will be conversations because that provides an opportunity for so many clubs and managers to sit down and talk.”

TIF Thoughts on Ornstein’s comments…

We expect this is what most Spurs fans will want to hear with big improvements made in the 11 months since the Italian made his return to the English top flight.

Do you want Conte to sign a new deal?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Spurs managed to clinch a spot in the top four last season despite a dreadful start under Nuno Espirito Santo and they have made a significantly better start to this season – despite Wednesday’s dismal display.

And it is worth remembering Conte has only had two transfer windows with the club which is surely an indication that the Italian is the man Spurs need in the dugout to take them forward in the coming years.
