Journalist Jonny McFarlane has noted that fans in the stand behind the press box at Ibrox were venting their anger at Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the recent Rangers game.

In the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon, the Teddy Bears side managed to scrape a 1-1 draw thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from John Lundstram.

Indeed, opposition side Livingston took the lead early on through Joel Nouble and nearly clung on to claim all three points despite seeing Morgan Boyes sent off later on in the match.

In the end, though, Lundstram’s 91st-minute goal saved a point for Rangers but it seems it did little to aid the reputation of his manager who apparently bore the brunt of some criticism throughout the game.

While talking about the match on Rangers Review, McFarlane explained (1:16): “You can totally understand the frustration of the fans, it was palpable at the end of the game.

“There was real discontent at Giovanni van Bronckhorst throughout the game coming from the stand certainly behind the press box. And it’s no wonder really because that was not cohesive in any way going forwards.”

TIF thoughts on Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Rangers…

As a consequence of the draw, Rangers now find themselves four points behind bitter rivals Celtic who lead the Scottish Premiership after 11 games played.

Adding to this disappointment is the club’s form in Europe. Indeed, so far in the Champions League, Van Bronckhorst’s men are yet to pick up so much as a point, losing all four group games, scoring just once, and so won’t progress into the next stage.

Taking everything into account, it’s no wonder some of the fans are beginning to lose patience with their manager. Worryingly for the Dutchman, it does feel as if something dramatic will have to change, and fast, if he is to save his job.
