Journalist Josh Bunting has slammed West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek for his poor display in the club’s most recent game.
Playing on the Monday night football slot in the Premier League this week, David Moyes and his side played host to Bournemouth and did well to come away with all three points.
Indeed, the Hammers claimed a 2-0 win thanks to a goal from Kurt Zouma which came just before half time and a penalty from Said Benrahma which came just before the final whistle.
However, despite the win, it seems as though not every West Ham player did enough to earn the plaudits on the day. Notably, Soucek was singled out by Bunting for his ‘abysmal’ performance.
The journalist took to Twitter to say: “Think West Ham need to take Tomas Soucek out of the team for a period, has struggled all season but 34 successful passes out of 45 is abysmal for a player in his position.
“Won 3/4 tackles which is good reading but on the ball he is just not good enough to play in that role.”

It seems as though Soucek’s poor passing was also noted by other journalists. Indeed, in the Evening Standard, they claimed that he was ‘lucky to get away with a slack pass in midfield that sent [Dominic] Solanke away’.
On top of that, his stats on SofaScore don’t necessarily make for the best reading. Indeed, they recorded that he had a lowly 76 per cent passing accuracy, gave the ball away 12 times, made one error leading to a shot for Bournemouth, and was dribbled past once.
All in all, it is fair to suggest he was pretty sloppy in the middle of the park and so perhaps Moyes will take note of this and drop the Czech international in the coming weeks, especially with Flynn Downes now starting to establish himself in the team more.
