Alasdair Gold has claimed that he wants to see Antonio Conte start Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma this weekend.

It was seen as a major coup for Spurs to have signed Bissouma during the summer for an initial £25m despite being Premier League-proven, with 112 appearances under his belt in the top tier.

Last season, Bissouma was in the top three at Brighton & Hove Albion when it came to tackles won, interceptions and pass completion, however, he hasn’t had the chance to showcase his skillset at Spurs, having started just two league games all campaign.

And while speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold has now urged Conte to start Bissouma this weekend against Everton.

“You’re not talking about some kind of newcomer from another country that is kind of fitting into the Premier League or someone that doesn’t know how to play incredibly well in the Premier League.

Should Bissouma start vs Everton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Yes, he’s kind of trying to cope with Conte’s demands, but it sounds like he’s starting to get the hang of that. I just feel like now is the time, and against Everton, I would personally go for a midfield three.

“Because we don’t know whether Kulusevski’s going to be fit enough; Richarlison, if that knee thing is an issue; Lucas doesn’t seem to be ready yet for a start.

“So I would go for the three [midfielders] in that respect, and just start getting Bissouma that game time, get him back to where he was. He was a match-winner, whether it was in an attacking or a defensive sense for Brighton.”

It is quite strange that Conte is yet to fully trust Bissouma given how experienced he is, with the Italian even claiming to the media a few weeks ago that Bissouma was struggling tactically as the reason why he’s had a lack of game time.

However, Conte may soon have no choice but to throw him into a game with Spurs now having five games across all competitions in the rest of October, including three in the next week as their schedule piles up.
