Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane’s participation in Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Eintracht Frankfurt is questionable.

That is the opinion of Sky Sports contributor Ben Dinnery, who was speaking on Monday’s instalment of FPL Injuries ahead of this week’s Champions League ties.

Kane had to be brought off in Spurs’ 1-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday after he picked up a late knock at the AMEX Stadium.

However, the injury doesn’t seem to be particularly serious and the 29-year-old should be available for the visit of Everton this Saturday evening.

But whilst Dinnery fully expects Kane to be available for Antonio Conte’s side’s next Premier League fixture, he is not entirely convinced that England’s second-highest goalscorer will be available for Wednesday’s critical Champions League clash with Frankfurt.

He said: “Harry Kane – he picked up a late ankle knock [at Brighton]. He confirmed post-match that he didn’t think it was too serious.

“There wasn’t a sprain, he didn’t roll it, it was more of a knock. It was more of a precautionary withdrawal – that was in time added on.

“So that’s not something that I would expect to carry over. The question mark may be against Frankfurt in the Champions League, but certainly looking ahead to Gameweek 11, I would fully expect Harry Kane to be involved.”

TIF Thoughts on Dinnery’s comments…

Whilst Spurs fans will be delighted that Kane doesn’t look like he will be out for a long period of time, his potential absence in Wednesday’s clash with Eintracht could be a huge blow, with Conte’s side really needing to gain all three points in that fixture.

The Lilywhites currently have four points from their first three Champions League group stage games, with the north London side currently sitting in second place in Group D, level on points with third-placed Marseille and two points behind group leaders Sporting.

Therefore, we believe that Conte will be sweating on the fitness of Kane, though he may also use it as a chance to rest the club’s 256-goal superstar and play a combination of Richarlison and Son Heung-min up front instead.
