Football writer Jordan Cronin has praised Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron for his superb display in the club’s most recent game.

The Magpies strolled to victory in Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they claimed a comprehensive 5-1 win over Brentford at St James’ Park.

Goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Jacob Murphy gave Eddie Howe’s men a 2-0 lead at the break before Ivan Toney pulled one back early in the second half. However, Guimaraes netted again shortly afterwards, while Almiron got in on the action late on, with an Ethan Pinnock own goal completing the scoring on the day.

Newcastle will be delighted with the win, and while Guimaraes caught the eye with his two-goal performance, it seems as though Almiron’s contribution wasn’t to be overlooked, either.

Indeed, in the player ratings for Newcastle World, Cronin handed the winger an 8/10 for his efforts, writing: “A player that oozes confidence at the moment. Kept his composure to round Raya and score his fourth goal of the campaign.”

TIF Thoughts on Miguel Almiron and Newcastle…

When you look at his statistics from the game, it’s safe to say the 28-year-old was a great threat throughout the match. Indeed, SofaScore noted that he had an 85% passing accuracy, made one key pass and won 2/3 ground duels, in addition to scoring his goal.

And with two shots on target, one blocked and another off target, he had more attempts at goal than any other player on the pitch – showing just how determined he was to make a difference on the day.

Having claimed a brace against Fulham last time out, Almiron seems to be flying at the moment. In fact, he now has four goals in the Premier League, which is already three more than last term and equals his joint-most in a single campaign.

With that in mind, it’s no shock to hear he oozed confidence against the Bees.
