Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam has been left very impressed by the work Eddie Howe’s done at Newcastle United since getting the job.

After replacing Steve Bruce last year, Eddie Howe has overseen a monumental turnaround in Newcastle’s form, keeping them in the league very comfortably last season and having the Magpies sitting pretty in sixth and just two points off the top four.

While many may point to the fact Newcastle have spent over £200m under Howe as the reason behind their success this season, they should be looking at players such as Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Sean Longstaff as a sign of how he’s managed to coach them and make people that were already at the club better players.

This is something McAdam highlighted live on Sky Sports as he heaped huge praise on the job Howe’s done at Newcastle.

He said: “This man [Howe] and his backroom team, I think he’s been absolutely superb. He took a team in Bournemouth from the bottom reaches of League Two into the Premier League and kept them there for five years; he’s clearly the real deal.

“He’s a very, very astute coach as well – not just a very talented manager, but someone that wants to work with players on the training pitch. He wants to develop them and improve them, and you’ve seen that so far at Newcastle.”

Will Newcastle finish inside the top six?

TIF Thoughts on Howe’s tenure at Newcastle…

It has been a fabulous time so far on Tyneside for Newcastle and Howe with the Toon only losing once at home this calendar year and that was to Liverpool last season – and they are now seemingly in the conversation for a European spot.

Of course, the investment from PIF and their ability to offer big transfer fees to clubs has certainly helped, but considering they only signed three new players in the summer, with Matt Targett returning after his loan spell last season, and one new recruit in Alexander Isak is out injured, Howe’s work has to be praised.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

The biggest compliment people can give Howe is how he’s now turned Newcastle into a pressing machine, as only Manchester City have recorded more pressures in the final third than the Magpies (as per FBref), which has seen them become a scary team to play against, especially if sides are looking to play out from the back.
