NBC pundit Robbie Earle believes that Newcastle United will crack the Premier League’s top six and create a ‘big seven’ in the very near future.

The Magpies have just recorded back-to-back wins, scoring nine goals and conceding just two in that period of time – which will have pleased Eddie Howe with everything all over the pitch from his players.

Newcastle’s recent form has seen them shoot up the table and occupy a spot inside the top six, and while finishing there would be a dream for fans, it would be rather unlikely given the competition they will face. However, a spot in the Europa Conference League and finishing seventh could well be on the cards if they keep up this form.

Speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Earle claimed that Newcastle fighting for Europe will soon become the norm in the Premier League, thus creating a ‘big seven’ clubs in England.

He said: “I hear other things about behind the scenes – the women’s team has been brought in, the training ground has been looked at, the academy has been addressed – there’s things going on, off the pitch as well as on it, that are making this football club something to start to be envious of.

Who would you rather NUFC signed in January?

“It won’t be long before there’s a big seven. Soon, we’re going to be talking about a big seven rather than the big six.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s future…

It’s no surprise that Earle is getting excited and talking up how far Newcastle can go under PIF in the near future, as they have only lost once all season – which came via a controversial 98th-minute goal away to Liverpool – while they have only lost once in their last 15 home league games.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Therefore, on the evidence of this season and the majority of 2022, Newcastle look to be one of the most in-form sides in the Premier League and are proving to be a very tough nut to crack, with even Manchester City failing to take all three points from Howe’s side this term.

A report emerged late on Monday evening about how the owners could look to ‘go again’ in the transfer market if Newcastle are in and around the European places come January, with both Moussa Diaby and James Maddison still on the club’s radar – which will excite Magpies fans while also worrying their Premier League rivals.
