Behind scenes footage has shown Joelinton limping after Newcastle United’s midweek victory, confirming Eddie Howe’s injury concern surrounding the midfielder.
Eddie Howe confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning that midfielder enforcer Joelinton had picked up a knock to the side of his knee on Wednesday against Everton and is now a doubt for this weekend’s match.
The Brazilian was forced off at half time due to the knock he sustained against the Toffees and it’s obvious why he couldn’t continue as some footage from behind the scenes after the game has emerged doofJoelinton limping up the stairs due to his injury.
After the Wednesday night win, Newcastle released a ‘Match Cam’ video to their YouTube channel and at (11:10) Joelinton can be seen walking gingerly alongside match-winner Miguel Almiron.

It would be a major blow for Howe and Newcastle if one of their Brazilian midfielders was to miss out against Tottenham Hotspur as they’ll need everyone to be fit and firing if they are to take anything from the game given Spurs’ 100% record at home this season.
Joelinton has enjoyed a miraculous turnaround under Eddie Howe going from a misfiring striker to a dominant midfielder that now leads the team in tackles this season (FBRef) and has played in all but one game this term showing how trusted he is by the manager.
If Joelinton doesn’t recover in time, and that looks like a doubt given how the manager spoke about him on Friday morning, then it will likely offer the chance for one of Joe Willock or Jonjo Shelvey to steal his starting role moving forward.
