Talks between Jack Harrison and Leeds United over an improved contract are yet to accelerate.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones who has been speaking to This Is Futbol amid speculation surrounding the winger’s future.

Football Insider have reported that Leeds are working to tie down the 25-year-old to fresh terms.

The source suggests that Harrison would see his £60k-per-week deal doubled with the former England U21 international currently out of contract at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

However, Jones has claimed that discussions are still in their infancy.

“There were talks a few weeks back about getting this going,” he said.

We’ll have to see how quickly it comes through. I don’t believe that there’s been any major progress.”

TIF Thoughts on Harrison and Leeds…

Will Harrison sign a new contract?

During the summer Leeds ‘swiftly’ rejected a £25m bid from Newcastle United who expressed an interest in the 5 ft 7 forward.

The Elland Road outfit reportedly placed a £35m price tag on Harrison’s head but with the Toon expected to renew their efforts when the market reopens Leeds will be desperate to retain one of their most influential players.

Only Raphinha scored more times than the left-winger last season and the former Manchester city man has been one of Marsch’s most-used players since his arrival in the dugout.

However, with Leeds and Newcastle seemingly on different paths this season he could well be enticed to depart and it remains to be seen where Harrison’s future lies.
