Pundit Chris Sutton believes that the way Leeds United fans have turned on head coach Jesse Marsch is harsh.

The former Norwich City striker gave his opinions on the current situation at the club in his Premier League predictions article for BBC Sport, ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

Results have not gone in Leeds’ favour recently, with the side not winning in eight Premier League fixtures since a 3-0 victory over Chelsea in August.

This has led to the pressure being mounted upon head coach Marsch, who has seen his side slip into the Premier League relegation zone after a positive start to the campaign.

But Sutton believes that the club’s supporters’ views on the manager have been harsh ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.

“I don’t think Leeds’ poor form is all on Jesse Marsch, and I think it is harsh that the fans have turned on him as quickly as they have done, but they really need a positive result at Anfield,” Sutton told BBC Sport.

TIF Thoughts on Sutton’s comments…

Whilst we think that Marsch did an excellent job in keeping Leeds in the Premier League after being appointed as the club’s replacement for Marcelo Bielsa in March, we think that paying fans have every right to vent their frustrations.

Leeds United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Alan Smith

It costs a lot of time and money to follow a football club across the country, and to not see them win a fixture in eight games will be frustrating for supporters, who will be expecting to see something change in the coming weeks to avoid another relegation battle.

Therefore, we disagree with Sutton in this instance and believe that the club’s views on Marsch’s predicament at Leeds are warranted, especially having not won a Premier League fixture in eight games.
