Graham Smyth has tweeted that Leeds United manager, Jesse Marsch, decided to not go over and applaud the travelling supporters after last night’s defeat.

The pressure is certainly starting to crank up on Marsch as of late with Leeds winless since the end of August and are now on a seven-game winless streak including three defeats in their last three matches.

This is despite the board backing Marsch with almost exactly what he wanted with players such as Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Tyler Adams, with two of those coming from the Red Bul Group, something Marsch has a big history with during his managerial career.

Forget the results though, not applauding travelling away fans after a midweek defeat is something that may well tip people over the edge, which is what Marsch did last night.

‘Jesse Marsch’s absence from the pitch questioned by the away fans in no uncertain terms. Players went over, his assistants too. There was a little applause but a lot of anger.’

Should Jesse Marsch be sacked?

TIF Thoughts on Marsch’s latest action…

If this was Marsch trying to avoid any sort of blame and criticism from the fans, then he will have likely only made things a whole lot worse with a fanbase that is still not fully accepting of him given he replaced Marcelo Bielsa.

The Leeds manager admitted in his post-match press conference that next time he would certainly go over and applaud the away fans and that he didn’t do it in spite of them, instead wanted to focus on the next game, but given the cost of living and Marvel right now, the last he could’ve done was clap and salute their efforts.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Marsch admitted that the board is still very much united behind him which would suggest he’s not nearing the sack, although their game this weekend against Fulham could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back if they put in a similar performance to the one they did against Leicester City last night.
