Journalist Beren Cross has expressed his frustration online after spotting Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville slipping regularly during the club’s recent game.

In the Premier League this weekend, the Whites travelled away from home hoping to put an end to their recent woes, which had seen them drop into the relegation zone.

Coming up against Liverpool at Anfield, however, it was never going to be a walk in the park for Jesse Marsch’s men. Even so, Leeds got off to a dream start when Joe Gomez gifted Rodrigo the opening goal, which was cancelled out by Mohamed Salah.

But prior to Summerville’s late winner, he was catching the eye of Cross for all the wrong reasons. Indeed, as the game wore on, Cross noted one thing that left him rather miffed.

Indeed, he took to Twitter to say: “Summerville slipping over every time he tries to run. Needs some different boots. Got in the way of Adams making a tackle just then and Liverpool countered.”

TIF Thoughts on Crysencio Summerville and Leeds United…

The youngster was handed just his second Premier League start of his career and would have no doubt been hoping to impress on such a big stage and so it would have been somewhat disappointing to leave onlookers such as Cross wishing he’d simply opted for a better choice in footwear.

But having had the last say on the night with his dramatic winner, we are sure Cross and the Leeds supporters will have forgiven him in an instant.

It seems Summerville certainly showed a few glimpses of his quality and potential on the night even before snatching victory for Leeds. Journalist Graham Smyth praised him for getting the better of Andy Robertson and then Virgil van Dijk in quick succession, which would have done wonders for his confidence.

Even so, he may well have made an even more positive impact on the game had he simply swapped his boots, just as a frustrated Cross suggested. In the end, though, all concerned will be relieved he was able to hold his nerve at just the right time to give Leeds a huge and unlikely three points at Anfield.
