YouTuber Conor McGilligan has claimed that Sean Dyche would not be a good long-term option to become manager at Leeds United.
Due to the club’s shocking recent form, which has seen them fall into the relegation zone, plenty of rumours are beginning to grow around the now uncertain future of Jesse Marsch.
For instance, on the BBC Radio Football Daily podcast (via MOT Leeds News) Luke Edwards of The Telegraph claimed that Dyche could be an option to come in and replace the American.
However, while speaking about the possibility on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan seemed pretty adamant that this would not be a good idea for Leeds.
He explained: “People who are in that void at the minute who don’t have work – you look at Dyche, god…
“Dyche, Benitez, Gerrard, managers like that. Okay, they’re there. But you know, are we really happy with that as a long-term project? And that’s the problem, for me.”
TIF Thoughts on Sean Dyche and Leeds…
Dyche has been without a club since being sacked by Burnley in April but has recently been linked with a possible move to Bournemouth, who fired Scott Parker earlier on in the season and have yet to find a permanent replacement (via Daily Mail).
Should Marsch also be sacked and Dyche is still available, similar links to the Leeds job would likely be pretty strong seeing as the 51-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience.
Indeed, in a 10-year spell with Burnley, he oversaw 258 top-flight matches, earning an average of 1.10 points per game. Even so, it seems as though McGilligan isn’t convinced he’d be a good fit.
Of course, for now, Marsch still seems to be being backed by the Leeds board, but should that change, it will be interesting to see who the club turn to next.
