Greg O’Keeffe has admitted on the All Together Now podcast he’s concerned about Everton’s lack of impact in front of goal.

Everton have appeared to take leaps under Frank Lampard this season compared to last campaign where they only just avoided relegation into the Championship with the Toffees now sitting 14th and two points above the bottom three.

The Toffees, however, are still finding it very tough to score goals and kill off teams in the Premier League with just eight goals to their name thus far, the third-lowest in the league, and have also only managed to score two or more goals in a single game once all season.

O’Keeffe has lamented Everton’s toothless in front of goal under Lampard this season.

(5:40) “We’ve got one the best offences really outside of the top five or four it’s comparable, but our goal tally is terrible, we’ve scored eight this season, now Southampton, believe it or not, down there obviously really sticking the gaff out there have scored nine, 15 goals for Leicester, Nottingham Forest, by far the worst team in the league have scored seven, just one behind us, it really worries me.”

TIF Thoughts Everton’s woes in the final third…

It’s fair enough that O’Keeffe sees Everton’s final third problems as a big concern because it essentially means, if they go a goal down then the Toffees will usually find it more difficult to claim anything from the game.

Something that will likely improve them as a team in the final third is the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was handed 24 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, as he’s been reliable in front of goal over the last few seasons for Everton with 24 goals in just 72 league starts since the start of the 2019/20 season.

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

This will be alarming for Lampard and Evertonians heading up to St James’ Park on Wednesday to take on Newcastle United as they will be coming up against the league’s best defence, so finding the back of the net will only become even more difficult.
