Aston Villa’s first signing of the Unai Emery era could be that of Villarreal centre-forward Arnaut Danjuma.

That is the opinion of The Athletic’s Dan Bardell, who was reacting to the news of the Spaniard’s appointment at Villa Park from his Twitter account.

Villa confirmed the appointment of Unai Emery on Monday evening, after the club relieved Steven Gerrard of his duties last week.

With that appointment, the former Arsenal manager may look to bring some of his former players over from Villarreal to Villa Park this summer, including that of Danjuma who the West Midlands giants were interested in signing from Bournemouth during the summer of 2021.

And Bardell has made a bold prediction in claiming that the 25-year-old will be the first signing the club make under their new head coach.

Early shout, Arnaut Danjuma will be Emery’s first singing at #AVFC,” Bardell posted on his Twitter account.

TIF Thoughts on Bardell’s comments…

Whilst Bardell’s comments are merely just a prediction with the journalist not attempting to claim that he is aware of movements behind the scenes, we agree with The Athletic man and could see a swoop for Danjuma occurring in January for the West Midlands side.

The six-time Netherlands international could prove to be an excellent signing for the Villains if he signs on the dotted line, with the versatile front man having scored 19 goals and provided four assists in his 43 Villarreal appearances over the last few seasons, according to Transfermarkt.

As a signing to mark his own imprint on the team, we think that Danjuma would be a fantastic signing for Emery this winter, but whether the Villa hierarchy are likely to spend at least double the £21.3m the La Liga side paid in 2021 is another question.
