Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed live on talkSPORT that Aston Villa can have who they want as their new manager.

The Aston Villa board wasted no time last night following their latest defeat at the hands of Fulham as they sacked Steven Gerrard not long after the full-time whistle had gone with the manager lasting less than 12 months in the job.

In the following hours of Gerrard’s sacking, numerous managers have been linked and tipped with the job, such as Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Andrea Villas-Boas and former Villa ace Agbonlahor believes the former Chelsea boss could end up at Villa Park.

Speaking live on talkSPORT last night, Agbonlahor claimed Tuchel could be someone that the Villa board look to bring in.

(1:00) “Aston Villa aren’t a Mickey Mouse team, big ambitious owners with a lot of money who will invest with huge support and I think Pochettino would be a good appointment but I think there are loads of managers out there, Thomas Tuchel, we could have who we want.”

TIF Thoughts on Villa’s managerial search…

While Pochettino was the name on everyone’s lips given the job he did at both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton before going and lifting some silverware with Paris Saint-Germain, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Argentine boss will wait until after the World Cup before he takes another job.

However, to land someone such as Tuchel who won the Champions League not so long ago with Chelsea and whose last three jobs have been with the Blues, PSG and Borussia Dortmund, it would take a monumental offer and project to be on offer, but it would be a coup as he’s a ‘brilliant’ manager, according to his former player Ben Chilwell.

But, it looks as if David Ornstein has crushed any dreams of Tuchel or Pochettino today.
