According to journalist Liam Keen, Wolves star man Raul Jimenez could be back in time by early October after he was pulled from the first team with ‘chronic fatigue‘ after his knee injury.
The Midlands side have seriously struggled so far this season both on the pitch and with injuries as they sit 17th in the Premier League table having picked up just one win through their first seven games, despite boasting one of the best defences in the league with just seven goals conceded.
One of the injuries that have hit the team the hardest has been to their star striker Jimenez and as a result, they tried to replace him with both Sasa Kalajdzic and Diego Costa.
The Mexican picked up a knee and groin injury during the pre-season and, despite playing this season, he hasn’t fully recovered and therefore has missed their last two games. Luckily for Wolves fans, Keen recently revealed on the Express and Star Wolves podcast that he will be back very soon.
He said: “With Raul [Jimenez], we’re probably looking at a realistic timeline of maybe the Chelsea game the following week. If all goes well, I mean, he did come back quite quickly from the MCL, I know it’s a different injury.
“But he did come back quite quickly from that. So, if he recovers quicker than expected, or equally, it could be longer than expected. You never know with injuries. But that’s probably a sort of a realistic timeline.”
TIF Thoughts on Jimenez…
Jimenez has been a crucial member of the Wolves side since he arrived, bagging 55 goals and 23 assists in 150 games for the Midlands side. However, he has failed to get back to his superb form since he picked up a head injury a couple of seasons ago.
Will Jimenez shine when he returns?
Yes
No
During the 21/22 season, he managed just six goals in 26 games across all competitions and he has managed just one goal in his first four games this season, but he has only played 211 minutes in these games.
Now Kalajdzic has picked up an ACL injury and they are relying on 33-year-old Diego Costa, Wolves need Jimenez back to full fitness as soon as possible. They have been disastrous in front of the goal without him, if it continues any longer they are going to find themselves in a relegation battle.
