Dean Jones has heaped the pressure on Diego Costa who has to hit the ground running for Wolves while speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel.

Wolves have had a pretty poor start to the season when it comes to the final third having scored just three goals in the league all season, the fewest out of any side in the Premier League and luck certainly hasn’t been on their side at all.

Bruno Lage looked to address their attacking does over the summer as they splashed out £15.5 million for Sasa Kalajdzic, only for the big striker to injure his ACL and was subsequently subbed off at half-time on his debut, which led to Wolves landing free agent Costa who hasn’t played a lot of football recently.

Jones believes that there’s a lot of pressure on Costa who has to hit the ground running due to Wolves’ attacking woes.

“They need him to bang, Wolves desperately need that to bang because they look like they are just blunt at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts on the signing of Costa…

It’s certainly a very bold move from Wolves and large to bring in a 33-year-old striker that hasn’t played a competitive game of football since last December and even that was out in Brazil.

The decision may well have been down to a little bit of desperation given that Raul Jimenez has never been able to recapture his form since that serious head injury he sustained and the club only have the out-of-form Hwang Hee-chan as a deputy.

Which former Man United man almost joined Wolves?

Costa has admitted that it will indeed take him a good few weeks to get up to speed and be ready to play in the Premier League again, so Lage will be hoping that the international break has come at just the right time which may have the rest of the league worried as even top manager Pep Guardiola spoke previously about how he’s an ‘incredible’ player.
