Beren Cross has claimed that Leeds United have several off-field issues facing them with players nearing the end of their contracts.

Leeds have had a high turnover of players this summer with eight new players arriving and then 13 also departed which has seen Jesse Marsch lead his team into a new dawn playing in a different way from how Marcelo Bielsa instructed his players to do so.

However, it doesn’t seem to be stopping there as Cross has pointed out, several players are now entering into the final and two years of their respective contracts, which would mean they are soon to be available for cut-price fees from opposition sides.

Cross believes Leeds now have to look at their huge issue when it comes to player’s contracts including Jack Harrison and Pascal Struijk.

‘Clubs generally act on player contracts inside their last two years. Leeds have 12, including three expiring next summer. The transfer window may be closed, but Victor Orta has some big calls to make. Harrison, Koch and Struijk big priorities,’ Cross tweeted.

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ contractual situations…

It’s not as if Leeds just have a few fringe players set to be coming to the end of their contracts or at least getting dangerously close to doing so, they’re first-team regulars such as Harrison, Robin Koch and Rodrigo.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Therefore, Victor Orta does indeed need to get down to work very quickly and tie some players down to longer-term deals especially when someone like Harrison certainly has suitors from around the Premier League, specifically Newcastle United.

By the time summer 2024 comes around, Leeds may well have lost 11 players who have all made solid first-team appearances at Elland Road, which should surely send alarm bells ringing within Orta’s head.
