Presenter ExWHUemployee has tipped West Ham United defender Emmanuel Longelo to leave the club soon as David Moyes doesn’t rate him.

It’s no secret that the Hammers have been in the market for a new left-back this summer, with full-back Emerson Palmieri currently edging closer to a possible switch.

However, the club do have a young prospect they could try out in that position if they felt he was of the requisite quality. Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that 21-year-old Longelo is back in training following an injury and could feature in the team soon.

Despite that, the insider said that he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ to see the defender sold soon as Moyes doesn’t seem to rate him very highly.

He explained: “Also back in training is Longelo, the left-back. So the relevance of that is that he may come into the squad, although, as I said, I don’t think Moyes particularly rates him and I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves the club relatively soon.”

TIF Thoughts on Emmanuel Longelo and West Ham…

Longelo played in the Premier League 2 division for the West Ham academy side on the opening day of the season, but has not featured since due to injury.

Now he is back in training, it sounds as though there is an outside chance he could get a call-up to the senior side in the near future judging by Ex’s comments.

However, at 21 years of age, the left-back still only has two first-team appearances for the club, so it seems unlikely that he would be thrown into action any time soon.

In fact, if Moyes really doesn’t rate him, having seen defenders depart already this summer, a possible exit seems more probable at this stage – especially if the Irons can land Emerson in the coming days or weeks.

Earlier in the summer, QPR made two bids for the player, so perhaps they will come in again for the defender, though he was also linked with moves to Nottingham Forest and Peterborough United last January (via The Athletic).
