Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that West Ham United are very keen on signing Eric Bailly in this summer transfer window.

There have been reports from The Athletic stating that West Ham United are one of the clubs interested in luring Eric Bailly away from fellow Premier League outfit Manchester United this summer.

West Ham are currently in a defensive crisis, as their injury list of central defenders consists of new signing Nayef Aguerd, Angelo Ogbonna, and Craig Dawson, whilst Issa Diop has recently left the club to sign for Fulham.

With the Hammers being short on fit defenders in their squad, Crook spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that David Moyes’ side are very keen on Bailly, but Fulham are providing competition.

He said: “I think West Ham are very keen on him and so are Fulham, so there would be a bit of competition.”

Will West Ham finish in the top six?

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Full-back Ben Johnson has had to feature at the heart of the defence for West Ham in the opening two fixtures of the Premier League season, while Moyes has opted to bring in Thilo Kehrer on a four-year contract, who can offer his services at centre-back and right-back.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see if the Scottish manager continues with the transfer after already adding two central defenders this summer.

Bailly, who has been hailed as ‘immense’, might be keen to force a move away from Old Trafford as he featured just four times in the Premier League last season and is yet to make the matchday squad under Erik ten Hag, so he will most likely be looking to get out of the club in order to find more regular game time.
