Tottenham Hotspur will be monitoring Adama Traoré’s situation at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the Lilywhites’ potential transfer plans for the remainder of the transfer window.

Tottenham have been interested in Traoré since last summer when the club had a £5m loan bid rejected on the final day of the transfer window.

Antonio Conte’s side were also linked with a move for the speedster in the following January transfer window, but Wolves were sold on Barcelona’s loan offer, which included a £29m buy-option at the end of the loan.

However, the 26-year-old, who was described as ‘absolutely phenomenal’, was not signed on a permanent deal by the Catalan giants this summer, and the winger is now back at Molineux with just one year remaining on his contract with the West Midlands club.

O’Rourke believes that Spurs will be “keeping tabs” on the situation with Traoré at Molineux, but a move may not be the priority for the club after the arrival of Djed Spence from Middlesbrough this summer.

He said: “I’m sure Spurs will be keeping tabs on that situation, as they have done since last summer, so never say never if he is available for a cut-price fee, but they have gone and signed Spence, so maybe it’s not a priority right now, that right wing-back role.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We believe that Spurs would be better off pursuing a deal for Traoré next summer should no other club show any interest, with the Lilywhites able to secure the eight-time Spain international’s signature for free next year.

The former Aston Villa man had an unremarkable campaign across his time at Wolves and Barcelona last season, scoring just one goal and providing four assists in 40 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

We believe that Fabio Paratici will be better off looking for alternative options both out wide and at wing-back this summer, with Traoré hardly proving to have been in scintillating form over the last 12 months.

Please do not sign him, he can run but cannot cross the ball. Ask why Barcelona don’t use him in the starting eleven and want to sell him after one year
