Journalist Oliver Young-Myles has claimed that some Tottenham Hotspur fans wanted Rodrigo Bentancur subbed off in his last outing for the club.

In the most recent run of Premier League fixtures, Spurs snuck past Wolves at home in a tense affair which saw a single goal from Harry Kane separate the sides.

By the very nature of most 1-0 victories, supporters of the club would have no doubt been nervous throughout, and it seems as though Bentancur did little to ease their fears as he gave the ball away carelessly on multiple occasions.

Indeed, in his player ratings for i News, Young-Myles made note of this, giving the midfielder a 6/10 for his efforts and revealing that fans wanted him off at half-time.

The journalist wrote: “Guilty of losing possession on a couple of occasions, leading to plenty of fans calling for Yves Bissouma’s introduction at half-time. Improved after the restart.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodrigo Bentancur and Spurs…

According to SofaScore, Bentancur lost possession five times for Tottenham during the game – which is actually the lowest total in the starting XI, so fans may well have been a little harsh with their criticism.

Still, considering Spurs spent an initial £25m (with £10m in add-ons) on bringing Bissouma to the club during the summer, many may be impatient to see their new man on the pitch soon as he is yet to make a competitive start under Antonio Conte.

In the end, though, Bentancur did indeed improve in the second half, as he played 90 minutes and finished the game with a 92% passing accuracy – helping his side claim the win.
