Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is desperate for new attacking signings amid a recent bid for Rennes attacker Martin Terrier.
Up to this point in the season, the Magpies have spent well on some promising new signings – such as Sven Botman and Nick Pope – but no forward are yet to officially join.
However, it does look as if striker Alexander Isak is set to arrive from Real Sociedad in £58m move having now completed his medical (according to Sky Sports).
Despite that impending transfer, it seems as though Howe wants more attacking reinforcements in the very near future. And it looks like one such player to fill that quota could be Terrier, who has been described a ‘high-level’.
Indeed, while speaking to The Transfer Tavern, the journalist said: “I think Terrier is one of a number of players the Newcastle have made bids for in the last few weeks and as I said Eddie Howe is desperate to bring in those striking reinforcements as soon as possible, especially now with this injury concern over Callum Wilson.”

TIF thoughts on Martin Terrier and Newcastle United…
Earlier on in the summer, transfer insider ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham United were keeping an eye on Martin Terrier, and so he clearly has the quality to draw the interest of some Premier League clubs.
With 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and a further four assists, it’s not hard to see why Newcastle and others would be keen on signing the Stade Rennais winger.
And despite that potential competition from the Hammers, if Howe is indeed ‘desperate’ to add more depth to his attack, the Magpies may well flex their financial power to get this deal done.
It certainly looks like that part of the pitch, and Terrier in particular, could be something to keep an eye on for Newcastle fans in the final days of the summer market.
