YouTuber and Leeds United supporter Conor McGilligan has said that it is embarrassing that the club have not signed a striker after Patrick Bamford got injured in their second game of the season.

Bamford suffered from injury woes last season which meant that he was only able to feature nine times in the Premier League.

The Whites have signed seven players this summer, but none of them have been strikers. They have been linked with Che Adams, who was ironically on the opposing side for Southampton.

With Leeds not adding an attacker to this point and Bamford being forced off due to injury, McGilligan took to Twitter and claimed that it is embarrassing that the club have not foreseen this possibility.

He said: “It’s absolutely embarrassing, to be honest, the club need to sort this out.”

Do you think Leeds will get relegated this season?

TIF Thoughts on McGilligan’s comments…

The Leeds faithful have every right to be annoyed that they have not added a new striker to the squad this summer considering the uncertainty behind Bamford’s issues, and with Joe Gelhardt not even named on the bench this afternoon due to an injury of his own, Daniel James came on up top, which is a similar tale to last season – despite Sam Greenwood one of Marsch’s options.

Adams is leading the line up top for the Saints today, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road, so Marsch might be wishing he had a deal over the line before this fixture so that he didn’t have to resort to fielding the Welshman.

James was forced to play up top for the Whites last term when injuries wreaked havoc, so hopefully for Leeds, this will be the final straw for them and their owners can fork out a bit more cash to get a new forward in the door quickly – even if the injury to Bamford turns out to be minor.

Blame nobody but the Leeds board and inept Orta. If a player spends most of last season injured and is prone to injury most sane people would get a backup or a swap over player. If the defence is crap you reinforce it; but not at Leeds. Orta has gambled money away on players like Costa, firpo, Koch, Llorente ….and as much as I hate to say it Roca is not up to premiership football, and my heart breaks for Dan James not able to produce the goods.
These early matches are the games Leeds need to win before all the clubs settle and play better. Marsch must drop Roca and insist om buying premiership capable players for defence, midfield and a striker. This game was 2 lost points simple because we could not hold up against an average side that upped a gear for 20 minutes. Disgrace on the board!
