Journalist Beren Cross has been blown away after Leeds United announced new contracts for Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville.
In reaction to this news, Cross wrote an article for LeedsLive explaining that it may well have ‘preserved tens of millions’ in future transfer fees, while he expects the ambitious young trio to now push for more regular senior minutes.
The journalist also took to Twitter to outline his sheer delight at the news, writing: “Time will tell, but today’s contracts could be some of the most important Leeds United have nailed down in recent years.
“Three players signed for small fees set to become Premier League regulars at Elland Road or command big fees from elsewhere.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds and the new contracts…
All three players signed for the club in the summer of 2020 and went on to make their debuts in 2021 after impressing with the Under-23s.
With that in mind, this is clearly a piece of business that will aim to protect the club’s top assets for the future, but the youngsters will also be hoping to make a big impact in the coming seasons.
Indeed, Gelhardt played 20 Premier League games last term and will hope to improve on his tally of two goals and four assists. Greenwood had seven outings in the league with two assists to his name, while Summerville is yet to contribute to any goals or assists at senior level in only six outings.
No doubt, the club feel as though there is plenty more to come from every one of those talented young players.
