Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United have cash available to sign a new striker before the transfer window shuts.

Leeds have something of a crisis in attack at the moment, as Patrick Bamford is sidelined due to injury as Daniel James was left to lead the line in their third Premier League game.

The Whites have been linked with several strikers this summer as Jesse Marsch looks to strengthen his options, including Wilfried Gnonto, who is a highly rated 18-year-old who Leeds could be able to capture for just £4m.

With Leeds seemingly short on the attacking front, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that they are worried about backup for Bamford – but they have cash available to get a new forward through the door.

He said: “Leeds are chasing others right now as well, no doubt. There is still a worry about backup for Bamford and they have cash available, so I think something is coming.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Leeds have made seven new additions to the squad this summer, but none of them have been strikers, which could be frustrating for the Whites faithful, as main man Bamford suffered from injuries last season, meaning he only featured nine times in the league.

However despite the fans likely to have been hoping for some backup this summer, Leeds have got off to an impressive start this term, picking up seven points from a possible nine thanks to Sunday’s 3-0 victory against Chelsea, so Marsch might not be in a rush to get any more players in.

Rodrigo has started the season in fine form, scoring four goals and chipping in with one assist in the opening three Premier League games, so whilst Bamford is sidelined, he could be another good option to lead the line.
