Leeds United transfer target Ché Adams could provide “a good foil” for Patrick Bamford this season.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Whites’ remaining transfer plans as the summer window draws towards its conclusion.

According to The Athletic, Jesse Marsch’s side now face competition to sign the 26-year-old this summer, with Everton now exploring the possibility of a loan-to-buy proposal for the striker.

The same report states that publicly, Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side are remaining firm on their stance that the 19-cap Scotland international isn’t for sale this summer, but behind the scenes, Southampton are thought to be willing to sanction his departure.

And O’Rourke believes that if Adams was to sign for Leeds, he would provide a good partner to Bamford up front.

He said: “Ché Adams is a good player.

“He’s maybe not a regular goalscorer, but I think he’d be a good foil for Patrick Bamford.

“He can hold the ball up, he’s good in the air as well; he’s got a more physical approach than Patrick Bamford as well.

“So, on paper, it does look like those two could work together and be a good partnership up front as well, and Ché Adams has got good Premier League experience now from his time at Southampton.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We agree with O’Rourke in the sense that Adams and Bamford could be a solid striker partnership for Marsch’s side this season.

The Leicester-born striker has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 110 appearances for the Saints, suggesting that whilst he may not be a prolific goalscorer, he could still score enough goals to help keep Leeds in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, we believe that it would be a smart move for Leeds to make a play for the Southampton striker quickly, with the forward rumoured to be available for around £10m this summer.
