Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Zaha may leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
That is according to Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express, who was speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the latest news from Selhurst Park, ahead of the final week of the transfer window.
Transfer insider Dean Jones has previously mentioned that Arsenal are monitoring Zaha’s situation at Palace this season, whilst Chelsea are considering making a move for the wide man before the transfer window closes on Thursday according to 90min.
Having entered the final 12 months of his contract with Patrick Vieira’s side, Zaha will be free to negotiate with other clubs come the January transfer window, with a view to joining them next summer.
And whilst Taylor does believe that the 29-year-old will leave the club, he believes it will be more likely to be on a free next summer rather than for a fee during this transfer window.
“Someone I spoke to believes he will leave on a free transfer next summer,” Taylor told GIVEMESPORT.
“He has only got one year left on his contract and he has angled for a move in the past.
“It has not quite happened with Arsenal or Everton and there’s also been interest from foreign clubs like Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Roma.”
TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments
We believe that Palace fans will be extremely disappointed to hear that one of the club’s greatest ever players may leave the club within the next 12 months.
The 28-time Ivory Coast international has made 433 appearances across two spells at Palace, scoring 86 goals and providing 73 assists in that time according to Transfermarkt, demonstrating the wide man’s legendary status.
Therefore, we believe that Zaha’s potential departure is likely to pull on the heart strings of many a Palace supporter, with the forward potentially laying claim to being one of Palace’s greatest ever players.
